Brief Overview - WHAT IS URBAN MUSIC ?!

URBAN MUSIC -
THE HIP HOP, RnB & RAP SCENE.

'Rap music, also called Hip hop music or Hip-hop music is an American musical genre in which rhythmic and rhyming speech is to a musical  accompaniment. It developed as part of Hip hop culture, a subculture defined by four key stylistic elements:  Rapping, DJing,  break dancing and graffiti writing.'

The key characteristics of the Hip hop, RnB and Rap music genre, has evolved from where the music began - the STREETS and on the underground scene.

Before many of our major artists became famous they were spitting bars in the comfort of there own homes, DJing, break dancing, leaving their tags on street walls - everything that defines urban culture and the urban music that we enjoy listening to today.

Urban music is everything that is new, fresh and funky. There are so many different ways and places you can go with Hip hop, R'n'B and Rap music, which is why it has become so popular with youths of all parts of the world, and has rapidly dripped its way into our mainstream music feeds.

French,Hip hop and Street dance duo: Speedylegs and Diablo, take to the stage on a french talent show and are pretty good!

Urban culture is all about; whose got the moves?! break dancing, graffiti artwork, pulsating beats and baseline with unexpected twists and new vibes. R'n'B stands for Rhythm and Blues and is all about smooth, baby making music. the artists in these videos are all about the fame and fortune that has come with producing this kind of music, the fast cars, money, music and lust.

There is a major link between dance and Hip hop artists, as it is all about youth, expression and urban culture. My chosen artist Kanye West is an artist who pours all of this into his music, his lyrics are equally as important as the images in his music videos, if not more so.
