Hip hop and R'n'B Hero
Born Kanye Omari West, on June 8th 1977,(born when hip hop and R'n'B music was in its prime and earliest stages.) The music he produces and makes now is the music he grew up around and listening to. West first rose to fame by becoming a producer for Roc-A-Fella records, where he eventually achieved recognition for his work on
Jay-Z's album Blue Print, as well as hit singles for other musicians such as; Ludacris - urban rap artist and Alicia Keys R'n'B and soul artist, alongside Janet Jackson.
I have truly felt inspired and developed a love for many of West's previous music videos, as his work is similar to art. I am always eager for his next installment/album/track. My favourite of West's most recent art is the music video for Runaway taken from his 2010 album: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,(which I purchased on iTunes and haves stuck on repeat) which was also directed and storyline produced by West himself, has two versions, the shorter version usually shown on music channels is taken from the extended edition which is a like a short film - 35minutes long, it is simply brilliant and beautiful! infusing fashion, passion and death, FIRE , black, white and everything that is dangerous and beautiful at the same time. It is about a beautiful Phoenix which has fallen from the sky whom Kanye (playing) himself falls in love with and tries to make fall in love with him but she doesn't fit in and has to return back to where she comes from, when she figures out how...
Kanye's music appeals to a wide range of people and audiences, I think he targets youths and people of the future, his work is very inspirational and his lyrics tend to mean more than just radio background music, he also targets people who have grew up around the same era as he and have experienced or witnessed the same struggles as he, his lyrics are powerful and yet still allow his audience to empathise with what he is saying, as within each track there is a life lesson to be learnt, or a lesson in history forgotten. West is Lyrical Genius.
